How do I handle my chinchilla?

I have a chinchilla and I want to be able to hold him. But I don't know how to do that. Whenever I open my cage door he tries to jump out. Please help me.

Put the Dust that he takes baths in in a container just big enough for him then when hes done grab him outta that it is a lot easier

Last year in 6th grade i had a classroom pet chinchilla and what you have to do is corner them then grab them or just grab em streight out of the dust bath
