Default Chipmunks or chinchilla?

Which is the easiest one to keep. I'm thinking of getting a pet chipmunk or a chinchilla. I have the room but i'm not sure which one to get. Please can you help me choose?
Which animal costs more to look after and which one is messier?
This ha helped me alot but please keep the answers coming

Also you need to check and see if owning a chipmunk in your state is legal. I believe in most states it is illegal to keep a chipmunk as a pet. I looked into it because I wanted one as a pet last year and found out it was illegal in my state.
It might be easier to have a chinchilla.
I know that chinchillas are very fragile and require a lot of time in keeping their habitat JUST right.
Both sound like they'd be a lot of maintenance.
Much luck!

when buying a chipmunk, you need to keep into consideration they arnt like squirrels. they burrow. i think they are amazing and adoreable but they run fast and if your up for constant games of "hide and go sprint to the closest cover" then a chipmunk is for you. If you want a just as cute but less high strung pet then go with the chinchilla. if you buy the chinchilla, then you will not need to find a specialest vet and you dont have to do as muc research. im 14 so i think that this will help you but i dont know everything, so consult your friends, family, and local pet store for the pro's and cons of each type of animal.
