| Hey Guys, Okayy, So I Really Love Birds, And Have Just Bought A Cockatiel. He Is Hand Reared, Very Tame And Has His Wings Clipped. He Can Say - '' Hello Watch You Doing'' And Make The Phone Sound And He Also Whistles Tunes, He is Definatly A Boy. Can Any One Tell Me A Great Way Of Him To Learn Knew Words Step By Step?? Please Answer This Question In Full Detail Since I Want My 7 Month Old Cockatiel To Talk And Have A Great Life With Me! P.s Please Also Give Me Other Info About Speech And Voice In Cockatiels If You Can Guys! |

| Well, the males usually talk a little better than the females, although I think it depends on how much time a person devotes to the training. Hold the bird on your finger, or stand in front of its cage so he is not distracted. Repeat what you want him to say over and over. It should not be a long sentence. Also only try to teach him one thing at a time. Trying to teach him too much at once will only confuse him. And keep the teaching sessions short. Birds only have an attention span of about 10 minutes. You can also use a tape recorder that has the word or short phrase one it over and over. Or you can buy a "Birdy Wordy" at some pet stores. I hangs in the cage and the bird activates it. It repeats what you want him to say over and over for about 10 minutes or so. It's kind of like a specializes tape recorder. Read my profile |
