would home made dgo food be cheaper and better than store bought dog food?

i was considering making dog food for the dog im getting?
because i heard alot of brand dog foods from stores arn't all that great for dogs?
and also would it be cheaper to make it?
any good recipies for a puppy and a dog would be great!

im a vegetarian,and i know dogs are omnivores or carnivores is there any harm done in just getting chicken or beef from the grocery store?
the thought of getting road kill or going to a slughter house makes me kinda sick
and im a good cook!
