Default Can you get sick from burning dog feces.?

My boyfriend has a Great Dane that is almost 14 years old and is dying. She craps all over and does not go outside anymore. He is feeding her all kinds of human food and it is giving her diarrhea. When he cleans it up, he uses papertowel and throws it in the fire place in which he leaves there until he burns it. I feel that my children and I could possibly get sick from this and i feel it is truly disgusting. When she craps all over her blankets, he does not rinse them off and just throws them in the washing machine with detergent. After he is done washing these disqusting blankets, I take half a bottle of bleach and run it through the washing machine with hot water. I have complained that what he is doing is not sanitary and of course I am overreacting. Her dog house is loaded in crap and she will just lay in it. He says she has always been like that. He never has cleaned out the dog house. Now with that info, i do believe we could get sick. What do you think?
The dog has been to the vet and she suggested putting her to sleep but he will not let her go. I can not do anything for this dog because we just moved in 2 months ago. I have already been yelled at telling me that it is like his daughter. I understand considering I have 3 children of my own and if I would not allow this to happen. Our crazy neighbor told him that he needs a dog pshyic to make sure it is her time. Or he should feed her with I.V's. Again, feeding my children that way to keep them alive, not happening.

i would take one day off of work and have him and your children help you give him a shower with a hose and clean the dog house and talk to your boy friend and tell him whats up. and if he dont listen to you just tell him that the dog has to live a happier life then that
and just take the dog out side a couple times a day now that its nice out and just tell him to stop feeding the dog human food.and just try to keep the dog and your family healthy.... good luck

the poor dog! It is most certainly not pleasant nor sanitary for her or you to be living near such amount of feces. Perhaps you should try to talk to your boyfriend (and i must say i have to agree with berner mom's comment about his behavior) about rinsing the blankets off before putting them in the washer, for the sanitary of everyone. Explain to him that his "daughter", regardless of whether she has "always been like that" or not, cant possibly enjoy living in her own poop-infested dog house. Gently point out to him that if he thinks of her as a person, and he is a person, would he like to live in his own poop, even if he always has? If possible, and if all else has failed, clean the house yourself and when he finds it, explain you wanted to make her more comfortable since she hasnt been feeling well lately. Also, you might consider making a type of chore chart regarding discarding the feces, washing the blankets, keeping the dog house clean, and so on, with a different task for you, your boyfriend, and your children, so everyone shares the burden, and he doesnt feel so overwhelmed. Perhaps all the work he has to do to keep her going makes him want to just get it done, so he doesnt do it well. If there is less work, everyone can take the time to be clean and sanitary about it, and everything will be okay. Also, make sure he knows that you dont think he's nuts for caring about his dog. Explain that you have your children, and you would want to care for them and spend as much time as possible with them, too...but you also love them enough to know that if they were really suffering, perhaps it would be right to let them move on to a better place, so to speak. Hopefully, all of this will help you, your children, your boyfriend, and the Great Dane, get along healthily and easily.
Hope i helped!
