Since most dog foods are unnatural and look/smell disgusting. A baked chicken breast or a low fat sirloin steak with a side of non toxic veggies would be better for my dog right? Since I know what is in it and it has no preservatives, additives, chemicals, etc.?

Mine ate nothing but boiled chicken/beef liver & some ice cream at times, and all lived from 13 to almost 16 years of age. They were small poodles. They would occasionally eat a little raw hamburger, but that's as far as they would go, on the raw meats. A large dog would probably love a big, raw meat bone a couple or 3 times a week, & their systems were designed for raw food, in mind. The one bad thing about the people food, if cooked, is Dental problems. Mine never ate any vegs, either. They do need the bone-meal, if they don't get bones, though.

It's better than any commercial crap from the bag. Should you decide to go this way though, consider feeding raw. Late Entry : just to the post above. Calcium is found in many veggies. Also raw eggs (including the shell) should be part of every dog diet. Later Entry : just to another post. Dogs DO HAVE need for fruit and veggies. I guess this is one of the main mistakes pple make when trying to go "raw".

It would be better then kibble yes, however, cooking the meat breaks down and destroys all of the proteins, vitamins and natural acids that the dog needs and changes the composition of the meat as well. Cooked meat is hard for dogs to digest because they were NEVER meant to eat anything that was prepared in such a way. Also you must take in to account that the muscle meat isn't enough, dogs also need bone and offum (organs) for their meal to be properly balanced. (In the wild they eat all parts of the animals, to get all necessary nutrients). Dogs have no needs for veggies, but they do add some vitamins and minerals. It is actually better to simply add something like omega three or cod liver oil to the raw meat. Go to these websites, I have included they will help you out alot. Hope this helps good luck
