Default If people want only a pet/companion dog...?

Dosnt it just make sense to get a companion breed, bred spicificly to be a companion, rather than breeds bred to do things like heard animals, or hunt animals ,or working dogs, terriers, etc.
Why does this seem so common sense yet so frequently overlooked???

There is no such thing in the world such as "companion dogs". All dogs have their own job to do, whether herding or working; sporting or grooming. All dogs are already companions, if you show them that you are also their companion.

Because really you have to have a connection with the pet and breeding specially for companionship isnt always good. i have a dog and i love her all the more for the stupid and bad things she does, without her uniqueness it wouldnt be the same.

because most people think of dogs like a possession instead of a family member - they treat animals like they're disposable - I hate that! They don't THINK about what's involved in being a responsible pet owner - thank goodness people don't treat their kids like they do their pets

If people want a companion dog they should check out their local shelters. There are a ton of GREAT dogs and puppies there looking for companions.

Bon:
with all due respect, there is a specific breed group of dogs...the toy...that has no purpose besides being a companion dog. It is recognized by the AKC, actually.
