i know koi are supposed to have a lot of space, but i have also heard that they do not grow larger than the space they are put in, like goldfish. Is this true? if i have a koi and cannot keep it in a larger space, will it stay healthy, or will it grow too large and need to be moved somewhere else or given away?

If a fish grow to the size of the tank it is b/c its growth becomes stunted and its organs keep growing untill it dies a painfull death of either an oran rupturing ot one that stops working! It is so sad how many fish have died b/c of whoever made up that stupid rule! And the same happens for goldfish kept in a small tank. Guppies, or endlers livebearers would be a much better choice for a small tank that you want some color in. Koi should only be in ponds or VERY VERY large tanks!!

That whole 'goldfish or other fish won't grow larger than the space they're put in' is the cruelest lie ever. What they REALLY mean is that by putting the fish into an area that is far too small for them, their growth will be stunted and they'll experience a tremendously painful death as their organs get too large for their shrunken body. It's disgusting. I'm sure -you- could live in your bedroom closet but what kind of a life would you lead? You will need to keep a koi in a proper space, preferably small pond sized.

i don't think it will work because koi are pond fish not in tanks so they prefer cold dirty water over fresh hot water so try some other fish i have guppies and they are cool and you can make them have bbabieswith a little effort not to hard so ya good luck.
