Why has my new pet rabbit been gaurding its poop from me, and lunging at me... ...when I clean it? I've had this rabbit for about two days, so she's still adjusting to the new place.
I heard that sometimes rabbits are cage possessive and do not like you cleaning their cage, but I'm even talking about poop outside of her cage. I'll go around with a paper towel to clean it up (outside of her cage) and she'll lunge at me and act like she's really mad. After she poops, she will lay on top of it to "guard" it, or so it seems. She doesn't seem aggressive at all except for when I clean her poop. Actually, the shelter (Indiana House Rabbit Society) said that she was one of their friendliest rabbits, and that she was litter trained. I've heard of rabbits pooping everywhere to mark territory when they move to a new home, but never heard of rabbits being protective over the poop they scatter.
Why is she acting aggressive over her poop and how do I get her to stop? |
