Default Why do people have snakes as pets?

Surely such a beautiful animal shouldnt be kept in a glass cage?
Madsnake?...

I appreciate you're input. Obviously you're a 14 year old teenager who keeps snakes as pets and has trouble reading and understanding a very simple question. Nowhere in my question do I judge ANYONE for keeping snakes, I simply asked WHY they choose too. I don't confess to being an expert when it comes to reptiles but if you would care to share you're expert knowledge instead of the childish rant you just gave, then please feel free to do so.
Hard for me to choose a best answer, so this question is going to the public vote. Good luck and thanks to those who posted.

Its a personal preference.
Ive kept them as pets for 32 years and never tire of learning about them and their ways.
As far as being better off out of a glass cage?
Every snake ive ever owned was captive bred.
Theyve never experience daily life outside.
I take them out every day to exercise them and get them accustomed to being touched.
While they will always be considered wild animals...... i like to think of mine as 'domesticated".
