I had a german Shepherd for 13 years and he was the softest most loving dog you could imagine. Then one day a sales man came round and started to pester my mum into buying something, she didn't want anything and he refused to go, anyway max growled and went for this guy (which is what the a***hole deserved!) My mom was on her own that day and she said she felt 100 times safer because max had been with her that day! I would recommend a german Shepherd anyday!!!!

Its funny because my one dog is a mix between all of them and she cant get anymore protective and i have a full bred shepherd and she too is also veryyy protective... it causes some problems bc i have to have them in cages when people come over bc if the person gets to close my dogs will bite..

You should use means other than an animal to protect your home. It doesn't matter what the breed is any dog can scare off burglars. Even a chihuahua can kill someone.

If a bad guy comes in and your dog tries to defend it's home, the bad guy is going to shoot the dog and kill it. It happens very often. Do not get a dog for protection, get a dog based on the temperment and activity levels that suit you.

I would say a shepard. But really it depends on the individual dogs temperment and how they are raised.
