My Shih Tzu puppy just got vaccinated & is sick. Is he having an alergic reaction?

My puppy just got vaccinated last week. He got the distemper, parvo & rabies vaccinations. Since then, he has not been himself. He has been hiding under furniture, reluctant to eat & drink- we have to bring food & water to him, he threw up once but hasn't since. His bowel movements have been normal, accept last night he peed on the couch. He was just sitting there & let 'er rip.

I'm really worried about him. He's normally an extremely energetic, rambunctious little guy who loves to play, now all of a sudden all he wants to do is run & hide. None of this is even remotely close to how he normally is.

Also, we just got him groomed for the first time on Friday. Do you think that maybe that might have anything to do w/it?

If the dog was having an alergic reaction to the shots, it would not still be going on.

Maybe take another visit to the vet.

Call your vet and ask this same question. They usually call the patient and ask if everything seems ok after the shots.

Chances are that his first grooming freaked him out. If you really want to be good to the little guy, learn to groom him yourself. I have seen dogs mistreated by uncaring or rushed groomers that end up with horrible trauma and the owner has no idea why.
