Default Can my shih tzu and yorkie puppy tolerate snow?

I live in california where the weather is great all throughout the year. I am relocating to Boston because of job requirements. I am just wondering whether my shih tzu and yorkie puppies tolerate the snow and cold. They are potty trained to go outside on the grass. What will happen if it snows? Can they toerate the cold? Will they be able to go potty? Comments from people who live in colder areas with shih tzu and yorkie breeds is greatly appreciated. How did you guys manage it?
thanks in advance. No stupid jokes please.

I have a shih tzu and she loves the cold and snow. She wants to go play outside when it is cold. She was the same as a puppy but she couldn't tolerate it for as long of a time. Shih Tzus originated from a cold climate. Yorkies I would assume, due to their size and coat, could only tolerate it long enough to go potty. I would put a coat and perhaps boots on the yorkie for potty time. Good luck.

Once they get use to it they will have no problems. Don't leave them out on their own and make sure to check between there toes when they come back in for ice balls. I have to cut the hair on the bottom of my dogs feet because this feels like rock and will bruise them.

I know it sounds crazy...LOL

Good luck

Yes any dog can for short potty times, but not for extended times and make sure you don`t use any rock salt on the sidewalks. Use ice melt made for dogs. Sometimes if the snow is deep you have to shovel out a spot to potty.
