How to train a siberian husky?

I have a siberian husky that is 6 months now and I have been trying to teach her to not run off when are outside hanging out..shes getting better but still will runoff when i call her to come in...but everyone tells me you cant train a siberian husky to stay around without being on a leash ever...is that true?

i think it is possible to train them to stay around, but you can't ever be certain that they will. my dad used to have this one husky that he would let off the leash but only in certain conditions, and even then he was never sure if the husky would come back or run off. probably the most important thing to do if you want the husky to stay by you is to exercise her a lot. i don't mean taking her on a mile long walk, that is too short. it would have to be upwards of 5 miles at least. the more you do the better the training will go. the reason huskies are so hard to keep by your side without a leash is that they have an incredible amount of energy and all they would love to do is take a very nice long run. if you want to have a chance of her staying by you without a leash you must take some of the edge of this impulse of hers to run. it will make her less mischievous and crazy. i think if you were to work hard enough and long enough at it, you could probably train a husky to do anything you wanted.
