| You are trying to mix oil and water. This is one of the few pairings I wouldn't expect to succeed. Your sibe has a PREY DRIVE (caps intended), and soon your yorkie could be in danger. Your sibe isn't a bad pup. She is what she is - a sibe. You've done the right thing starting them with the sibe as a puppy, but there are no guarantees, and I'd monitor them very carefully. Good luck! |

| what you can do is actually teach the sibe how to play correctly with the yorkie. a couple years ago my dad got a new huskie to join our family which consisted of a pomeranian(about the same age as your yorkie) and a cat. we encountered the same problem, the husky always wanted to play with the pom, but we were scared it would hurt the pom. we ended up training the husky that in order for it to play with the pom it couldn't use its paws. we did this by making it lay down and then allowing it to play with the pom. every time it would use its paws we would smack her paws and tell her "no paws". she caught on quickly enough that in order for her to play with the pom she couldn't use her paws, thus handicapping her and making it less likely she would hurt the smaller pom. also, it takes time. right now the husky is a raging puppy who knows nothing. all the husky is trying to do is figure everything out. you might want to watch him closely when he interacts with your yorkie, but once he grows some things will start calming down if you train him correctly. huskies are naturally pack dogs and so expect some bickering between them for the rest of their lives, but it's going to be the worst at the beginning and will eventually get better. |
