Is it healthy to feed my Siberian husky raw hamburger?

I recently read that mushers often feed their sled dogs some of their meats raw or frozen claiming that cooking red meats and poultry changes their taste and nutritional value and makes them less "tasty" to the dogs. I've also been reading some bad things about a lot of the commercial dog food lately that makes me want to change the way I feed my dog. I want to start preparing my dog's food myself. I currently feed him Chicken for the Soul dry and canned food daily in addition to various "treats" that are available on the market. Any additional advice or suggestions from dog experts out there or from knowledgeable dog owners who currently prepare the food their dogs eat would be appreciated. Thanks!
