Hi, I own a siberian husky German Shepard mix I had him for almost a year now I think he is three years old and I know no histery about him and is very energetic I have done research on this breed and fully understand his needs since the day I have had him I have been training him on my own and I do give him a great deal of my invided attention I am happy that he has been comfortable for almost a year now with me and my family I believe he eats much better now that he is living in our home but he does eat very little at a time and we feed him both dry and wet dog food which will let me know witch he favors better at the moment I am most concernd about his behavior he is a big dog and he gets on his hind legs and puts his paws on people and scratches them or knocks them down and jumps on our screen door and puts holes in it I know he doesnt mean to do these things when we have him outside it gets noisey and he freaks out and comes to our door scratching and crying SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

As hard as it is youve got to give him less attention. Hes got strong pack instincts and attention from you should be a reward for good behavior not a given. When he jumps on you turn your back on him and ignore him for 5 seconds. When he settles praise him. If you can, get him to sit before he has a chance to jump and then praise him for his good behavior. Try to anticipate his actions so you can redirect him so as to praise him for good behavior rather than having to rebuke him for unappropriate behavior. I have a shepherd/husky/heeler mix and she had the same problem but giving her a consistant reaction got her over it in time.

i have a pure siberian husky and what i like to do when she tries to jump on me is to grab her front paws and stretch them as high as i can get them in the air. this puts her in a very uncomfortable situation. by doing this it gets her to associate jumping on people as something that will result in being uncomfortable. it has even gotten to the point that people will try to get her to jump on them and she will just sit and stare at them like their stupid. i also reprimand her very strongly when ever she does jump on guests and i tell her to get down.

as for the problem outdoors what you might need to do is build some sort of pen that you could put him in outside instead of just letting him have the run of the backyard. this will keep him from running to the door and scratching on it. it will force him to deal with the noises. also the crying is some of his shepherd heritage. they are very loyal dogs and tend to not like being away from their owner. you must break him of this habit. don't let him in until he has stopped crying, otherwise he will associate crying with getting attention and you do not want that. i know this may seem harsh, but babying him may lead to worse behavior.

as for the food problem, he is part husky and as a breed huskies need less food then most people think. they were bred to be able to go far with little food. dry food is perfectly fine for both huskies and german shepherds. both of those breeds are very smart and if they are hungry they will fine the food and if there's no food in the bowl they will let you know. sometimes they will eat little and sometimes they will eat a lot.

the most important thing is just to reinforce his good habits and reprimand his bad habits consistently. if you do this he will pick up on what you want. it may take a little bit, but it will happen.
