You should never let a Husky off leash. They were bred to run, run, run and when they get a chance, they will run, run, run no matter how much you call them. Training a Husky to come when called helps but I would not bet the dogs life on it. "Bolting" and not being distracted by anything that may be calling their name is bred into the breed so they can run the long distances required of them.

i have heard of huskies that could be trusted off of their leash, but i've never really known an owner who was 100% sure of their husky returning. you probably could with the correct training and if you started early enough, train them to not bolt and to stay near you. they are extremely intelligent. but it would also require giving them a ton of exercise daily, in order to help keep the impulse to run from getting the best of them. everything depends on your specific husky, the training you put into it, and how early you start and how consistent you are. even then you'll probably never have the assurance of them coming back as you do with german shepherds, retrievers, etc..

One of my huskies is an escape artist, she will scale/jump fences and bolt. You can call her, offer her food and chase after her but she'll just run and run. She'll eventually come back when she's tired/bored but its best we just keep her from escaping in the first place. The other husky we have will only take off if he is with the other and i'm not around. As soon as i call him or tell him no, he'll stop dead in his tracks and turn around. But would I be willing to trust him off his leash? Hell no.

I trained my husky since the first day I got him. But, still, I don't trust him at all. I walk off leash only in the way back from the dog park, or after 2am, when there is no one around (and that include any other animal). I walk him sometimes downtown too, but, I keep in leash most of it, not because I don't trust him, this time, but because people get easily scared of him (he is kind of "wolfy). I took him in the country as often as I can, and there he is always off leash, but, always try to keep in eye on him, and I call him every 5min, so he knows where I am (in fact, he comes back by himself most of the time, to make sure that I'm not far from him). But, even like this, I don't suggest anyone to do so. I trained my dog using another one. She is my neighborer female husky that I used to walk with mine. I had her on leash, and mine off, so he kind of get used to walking 10 feet away from me, but, as soon as I say stop, he gets back.
